The Rise of Depression and the Cannabis Response

Are you experiencing depression? If so, you are not alone and are among the countless Americans affected by this mood disorder. A recent article shared new statistical particulars about how depression while in the U.S. is on the upswing.

(1) Formerly, The National Center for Health Statistics reported that anti depressant use jumped 65 percent in 15 years between 1999 and 2014: by 7.7 percent of Americans around 12.7 percent for people 12 and older, twice as high for women than men, and 19.1% to individuals 60 and older. (2)

The good news, cbd shatter they say, is that “universal depression screenings” are far more regularly, and this mood disease isn’t any longer in the closet: folks are talking about it and curing it… with pharmaceutical drugs.

I am left to wonder why this depressive state has grown by bounds and leaps? For one thing, there exists an entire lot that’s become the world since January 1, 2000. It’s enough to make anyone depressed. I overlooked something, below, but here are the examples I will recall:

September 1 1, 2001
The Patriot Act
Ongoing terrorist strikes both national and global
mass-murders at schools
Increasing opioid addiction and deaths
Multiple wars in the Middle East
In Tense all-natural disasters: fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis, flooding, blizzards and droughts
The Fukushima atomic disaster of 2011
The economic catastrophe of 2008
over priced property
Earnings that don’t suit the cost of living
Increased homelessness
The divisive presidential election of 2016 and also presidency of donaldtrump
Of course, this list does not include tough private situations the majority of us experience every once in awhile.
Pharmaceutical companies would be the major winners.

Though the majority of the antidepressant-package drops warn of one or another side-effect, pharmaceutical antidepressants are the omnipresent ‘go to” solution and coping mechanism for melancholy. Additionally, besides the unwanted effects, many folks report difficulty in getting away anti depressants when they are ready to achieve that.

Depression is associated with greater neuro-inflammation. It is common knowledge today that inflammation is just a precursor to many distinct disease processes.

Input therapeutic cannabis.

Cannabis is well known to decrease inflammation also holds great promise in studies about depression. (3) owing to its chemicals, notably THC and CBD, bodily healing, not simply symptom hiding, can happen to revive deficient portions of the brain and immune process. (4) It is nontoxic, cost-effective and has little to no sideeffects whatsoever.

“… the team examined data from Strainprint, a mobile application cannabis users may use to track changes in symptoms after using different doses and cannabis chemo-types. In general, self-reported symptoms of melancholy decreased by 50 percent” (5)

So why not more folks take to cannabis medicinally before heading down the pharma trail? I suggest there are 3 Chief motives:

The leftover stigma encouraged by the Reefer Madness movie propaganda of 1936 and subsequent 1937 Marahuana Tax Act
The taste to anticipate doctors and exactly what they prescribe
A general lack of knowledge concerning curative, not recreational, cannabis use
A friend of mine used cannabis medicinally to help her get over depression after nothing else worked. She stated that it gave her back her life, which motivated her to share her experience with others.
As far as I can tell the multiple devastating events of the 21st century have dramatically changed the world from even as we once knew it : disorienting in the best and gloomy at worst for all those who know the difference. That said, I believe it’s still absolutely feasible to choose flight from depression and remain emotionally and mentally well through it all with the help of accountable, and therapeutic cannabis usage.

The entire world may well not change in ways we prefer but we are able to.
